About the event
It’s crunch time for the Fast-track Approvals Bill. You already know this law change is the most extreme attack on the climate, on Te Tiriti, and on democracy that we’ve seen in a while.
Â
Last week the government revealed the first 149 projects to be rubber-stamped through the bill, and it ain't looking good. The projects include coal mines, waste incinerator projects, motorways, seabed mining, dams, open-cast gold mines, prison expansions, irrigation schemes, urban sprawl and more.
Â
Many of these proposals are 'zombie projects' - projects that the courts ruled should not proceed - but now would go ahead anyway. The projects include no less than 11 mines and eight quarries!
